NATA 2017 Examination Pattern:-

The NATA Exam 2017 holds two parts such as,

  • Drawing Test
  • Aesthetic Sensitivity Test

NOTE: The drawing test (Part 1) will be conducted through offline mode using pen & paper and aesthetic sensitivity test (Part 2) will be conducted through online computer based mode. There is no negative marks in NATA 2017 Exam Pattern.

The NATA 2017 score card is only valid for 2 years from the year of appearing.

Paper I (2 hrs): [Drawing test]

  • The drawing test is conducted by the Council of Architecture to check the the drawing ability of the applicant. The duration of drawing test is 2 hrs, where the aspirants have to attempt 3 questions. 
  • The NATA 2017 drawing test will be conducted to judge the following manner,
    • To check the candidates ability to sketch a available object proportionately & rendering the same object in visually appearing manner.
    • Prospective drawing sense.
    • Visualizing & Drawing the effect of light on the object and shadows of cast surroundings to the object.
    • Understanding of scale & proportions.
    • Combining & Composing 3D elements to form a building and structure.
    • Create visual harmony using colours in a given composition.
    • Sketch from your own creativity through pencil on various themes from days-to-day experiences.
    • Create a interesting 2D composition using given shapes & forms.

Paper II (1 hr): [Aesthetic Sensitivity Test]

  • Aesthetic sensitivity test was conducted in computer based online mode and it consists multiple choice questions. 
  • The aesthetic sensitivity test measures the imagination and observation, perception, creativity and communication of the aspirants along with architectural awareness and comprises of the following,
    • Visualizing 3D objects from 2D drawing.
    • Analytical reasoning.
    • Visualising different sides of 3D objects.
    • Identify the commonly used materials & object based on their textural qualities.
    • Mental ability.
    • Architectural awareness.
    • Imaginative comprehension & expression.
